SUMMARY : On the planet Gandahar – Led by the Women's Council, humans live peacefully, in harmony with nature. But the peace is shattered when Machine-Men attack numerous villages and turn the inhabitants to stone. Queen Ambisextra then tasks a young knight, Syl, with investigating these strange phenomena.

ABOUT THE FILM : Adapted from a novel by Jean-Pierre Andrevon, The Machine Men Against Gandahar (1969), Gandahar is the third animated feature film directed by René Laloux, after The Savage Planet (1973) and The Masters of Time (1982). For this new science fiction work, René Laloux collaborated with the illustrator Philippe Caza. Among the voice cast of the characters, we note the contributions of Anny Duperey and Georges Wilson. The music, meanwhile, was composed by Gabriel Yared (37°2 le matin). After a DVD release in 2007, Gandahar is finally available in high definition.
