SUMMARY : London – A breakfast at the Loftings' home turns tragic when their daughter, Kate, chokes on a piece of apple. Panicked, Julia, the mother, hands a knife to her husband, Magnus, so he can perform an emergency tracheotomy. When he refuses, she attempts the operation, but fails to save the little girl. Traumatized, Julia spends time in a psychiatric hospital. Upon her release, she leaves Magnus and moves into an old Victorian house. The place soon becomes the scene of strange occurrences. Later, Julia learns during a séance that the spirit of a child is haunting the place. Could it be Kate, as Julia hopes?

ABOUT THE FILM : Adapted from a novel by writer Peter Straub, published in 1975, The Infernal Circle is one of the great successes of "ghost stories" in cinema. This first feature film by Richard Loncraine (Richard III) was also awarded the Grand Prix at the Avoriaz Festival in 1978, where it won. A fully justified masterstroke for a work in which psychoanalysis and the supernatural collide. Nine years after Rosemary's Baby, Mia Farrow is once again the central character of a masterpiece of fantasy cinema. She is here accompanied by actors Keir Dullea (Black Christmas) and Tom Conti (Furyo).
