SUMMARY : A mysterious killer is targeting women, leaving a crescent moon medallion beside their bodies. His third victim, Giulia Torresi, escapes death on the night train from Paris to Rome. To keep her safe, Inspector Vismara, in charge of the investigation, pretends she's dead. But Giulia becomes aware of a connection between the murders, and with the help of her husband, Mario Gerosa, a fashion designer, the young woman decides to conduct her own investigation. It turns out that the murdered women had all stayed two years earlier in the same hotel, which was frequented by an American whose key ring just so happens to be adorned with a crescent moon...
ABOUT THE FILM : Directed, between MURDER BY INTERIM and THE ICE KNIFE, by one of the great artisans of giallo, Umberto Lenzi , THE ORCHID KILLER is a high-flying thriller with suspense that keeps the viewer on the edge of their seats until the last minute. Co-produced by Rialto, while the film is part of the series of Wallaceian Krimis, it has all the typical elements of the Italian thriller. We will remember the performances of Uschi Glas (DEATH BY THE THAMES), Antonio Sabàto (ANTI-RACKET BRIGADE) and Pier Paolo Capponi (BORDEN PHOTOS OF A BOURGEOIS). Not to mention the beautiful musical score by the prolific and talented composer Riz Ortolani (MONDO CANE, PERVERSION STORY).
