Summer 1980: While the Gdansk shipyards are experiencing an unprecedented strike, Winkel, an alcoholic journalist officially sent there to cover the event, has the real mission of gathering incriminating evidence against the union leaders, in order to discredit them and put an end to the protest movement. At the forefront of his sponsors is a certain Maciek Tomczyk, troublemaker and son of Birkut, "the marble man"...
Shot in the heat of the real strikes that gave rise to the Solidarity movement, IRON MAN is both an extension of the themes and characters explored in MAN OF MARBLE, while also carving out a unique path of open protest and support for the cause of a people stifled by the regime. Masterfully capturing the spirit of the times, and writing history as much as it documents it, Andrzej Wajda's investigative film remains a unique example of militant and popular cinema, winner of the Palme d'Or at the 1981 Cannes Film Festival.
Available on Blu-Ray for the first time in France, the film is presented in its latest 2K restoration.
