SUMMARY : Inseparable, Simon and Dédé lead very different lives. The former works at a fishmonger, while the latter, a failing musician living with his sister and brother-in-law, seems to be doing nothing productive. Despite their apparent differences, they share a strong friendship and often spend long hours in Dédé's car. The latter likes to tease Simon by occasionally mentioning a "mermaid," an allusion that seems to greatly irritate him.
ABOUT THE FILM : Adapted from Charles Bukowski, Patrick Bouchitey's film provoked some negative reactions among critics and audiences due to its sulphurous mixture of Eros and Thanatos, but Cold Moon, shot in black and white in an industrial port area of Lorient, is a corrosive love story, as well as a magnificent tale of friendship between two losers played by Jean-François Stévenin and Patrick Bouchitey. Reserved for mature audiences, Cold Moon is a desperate and provocative masterpiece, magnified by the music of Didier Lockwood, almost invisible these days and presented here in its new 4K restoration.
