AN EDITION FROM THE INTERSECTIONS PUBLISHER

ABOUT THE FILM :
AUGUST 1980: Following the unjustified dismissal of Anna Walentynowicz, an employee just months away from retirement, her colleagues at the Gdansk shipyards organized a general solidarity strike. The movement grew to unprecedented proportions and would have irreversible consequences for all of Polish society, and by extension, for the Soviet bloc.
Co-directed by Andrzej Chodakowski and Andrzej Zajączkowski, whose film crew members were the only Poles allowed inside the shipyards during the strike, this lively documentary gets as close as possible to the working-class reality, the behind-the-scenes dealings with the authorities, the conditions of occupation, and shows the progressive importance that Lech Wałęsa would take on in the political landscape. Not content with having approved the production of this incredible document, Andrzej Wajda would also use some of its footage, impossible to reproduce in a fictional film, for his own IRON MAN. A true page of history live.
Available for the very first time in France, the film is presented on Blu-Ray in its latest 4K restoration.
